- Stop smoking for at least a month before the operation.
- Avoid taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements that lead to bleeding and swelling, for a period of at least two weeks before the operation
- Refrain from consuming stimulants, such as Arabic coffee and alcohol, for a period of no less than two weeks before the operation, because they may hinder the anesthesia process.
- Avoid taking blood thinners, such as green tea, because they may cause severe bleeding that delays the healing process.
Tips after eyelid surgery
- Use ice packs on the eyes for a period of 10 minutes every hour immediately after the operation, and on the next day, they are used four to five times during the day.
- Clean the eyelids gently with the use of eye drops and ointments prescribed by the doctor
- Refrain from swimming for at least one week after the operation.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, for at least a week after the operation.
- Avoid rubbing the eyes.
- Do not use eye lenses for a period of no less than two weeks after the operation.
- Wear black-coloured glasses to protect the eyelids from sunlight and wind.
- Sleep, making sure that the head is raised more than the chest area, for a few days after the operation.
- Avoid using blood thinners, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and other medicines and herbal supplements, for at least a week after the operation, because they may lead to bleeding
